Every day 2.5 quintillions (that's 10 to the power of 18) bytes of data are created, and most probably, a portion of it is created in your organization or by your customers'. Unfortunately, much of that data is never leveraged or even unearthed; it stays buried in internal or external systems. If used effectively, this data can help you know your customers and yourself better. Business Intelligence - the set of methods and technologies to collect, analyze and visualize this information - has to be an integral part of your technology strategy. An ERP (or any information management system) is only as good as the information it provides to the people using it.
Our approach to Business Intelligence is quite simple and effective. First of all, business goals need to be set. Then available (and missing) data sources need to be analyzed. The data sources need to be combined and data cleaned. From this point on, the data can be used to measure and to support business goals. Metrics and KPIs are getting defined and then data is organized in a way to provide these metrics. That is the traditional approach. Or we can run machine learning algorithms to let the data itself speak – to discover and learn new patterns and knowledge, and ultimately to make predictions. This allows human decision makers to be supplemented by the wisdom of the data; what frequently called artificial intelligence.
We are using Microsoft tools in this pursuit because we think Microsoft provides the best combination of breadth and depth. SQL Server BI tools enable you to transform and analyze data with familiar tools, combined with the power of the Microsoft Azure cloud.
